Job Overview

The Studio Operator & Teaching Facilitator is responsible for the day-to-day delivery & teacher-focused support for on-campus Studio Operations and for supporting Live to Device lectures. This part-time role (approximately 15-20 hours/week) will actively monitor lectures to which they are assigned in order to provide Live Lecture technical (hardware and software) support. Duties include updating academic information and materials to ensure they are accurate at the time of broadcast. Additionally, this role may be asked to respond to faculty help requests during or after class sessions. This position is a faculty support role, and the successful candidate will be an important member of the Shorelight Live team. Performance of these duties and fulfillment of these responsibilities positively affects the teaching & learning experience of students and faculty, upholds the integrity of our organization, and furthers our mission.

Essential Functions

Studio Duties

  • Operate specialized Live broadcast studio for selected academic courses and demos
  • Ensure proper configuration of equipment and software in advance of events
  • Troubleshoot audio/visual technical issues
  • Manage the timing and loading of curricula, and the updating of lesson plans in coordination with instructional design team and faculty
  • Manage the broadcast platform and perform administrative tasks for production readiness
  • Support live productions, including various production roles as needed

Operational Duties

  • Log-in and launch, or assist in launching, classroom sessions
  • Assure proper configuration of equipment and software
  • Monitor lectures as assigned
  • Troubleshoot audio/visual technical issues
  • Troubleshoot browser-based software issues that affect delivery of live lectures
  • Work early morning, late-evening and weekend hour shifts as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced or better skill knowledge & skills using Zoom
  • Fluency with Chrome browser functions
  • Familiarity with the principles and basic technologies of Internet-based videoconferencing
  • Quick learner and adept with new technologies
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience with higher education instruction and faculty
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Eligible to work and travel in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Demonstrable relevant work experience or internship
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot Windows and Chrome browser environments
  • Familiarity with A/V and live broadcasting hardware and software
  • Familiarity with the principles and basic technologies of television broadcasting
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard and Canvas
  • Knowledge of higher education instruction and institutions
  • Demonstrated teaching, presenting, public speaking, or customer service experience
  • Interest in moving to full time as business needs require
