Job Overview

Shorelight is seeking a proven entrepreneurial and strategic international leader for the position of General Manager, China. The General Manager’s (“GM”) role is to grow, expand, and scale our business in assigned markets. The GM provides leadership, consultation, and expertise and line-manages Shorelight’s regional recruitment team in region and leads high-level account development and management of key channel partners. The GM drives and ultimately ensures the execution of a channel agnostic recruitment strategy across the region and multiple channels to maximize students’ opportunities and Shorelight’s revenue across its portfolio of partner universities. In addition, this individual assumes ultimate responsibility for leading the business in the region, exploring areas for business expansion, new products and locations to house our growing portfolio of products, all while maintaining our strong corporate values and culture. The GM will act as a representative and advocator of change management, leading and promoting changes where needed to respond to changing market conditions. This role will report to the Vice President, Student Acquisition.

 

Essential Functions

Regional Strategy & Operations

  • Develop and lead the execution of regional revenue growth strategy across channels, products, and subregions to support Shorelight’s growth goals
  • Lead local leadership to develop multisector approach that leverages regional resources
  • Provide leadership, consultation, and expertise on special projects within the organization and ensure that assigned regions are positioned properly around all business, operational, and student acquisition strategies
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to assigned markets to achieve short term success and long-term growth strategies.
  • Responsible for growing our presence in assigned markets and ensuring that SL initiatives are fully integrated to deliver strong results.
  • Ensure that assigned markets are properly positioned around all commercial and student acquisition strategies and explore areas for expansion of our product portfolio that service the international student base
  • Partner with senior leaders in each of the assigned markets to support corporate priorities and develop growth strategies for each market
  • Identify and assess market opportunities for expanded growth in assigned markets. Collaborate with business development to identify and support new business ventures.
  • Work closely with headquarters in Boston to deliver critical feedback on new products, universities, and programs, with the goal of optimizing all products for the region
  • Maintain high levels of competitor awareness, product knowledge, and market intelligence
  • Lead the company/regional changes where needed to respond to marketing changes
  • Responsible for regional budget planning and management including target setting, T&E, scholarships/discounts, marketing, channel partner incentives, etc.

 

Process Management & Relationship Management

  • Work closely with Student Acquisition, Operations, Enrollment Management, HR, and Finance in assigned markets so that all departments are working collaboratively to ensure success, productivity, scalability, and operational excellence
  • Enhance (and develop where needed) all relevant systems, processes, and procedures across the region to ensure operational excellence
  • Establish “Best Practice” mentality in region for nimble and agile changes to market conditions.
  • Partner with leaders located in global offices/markets to help our team build organizations, working closely with senior leadership to scale efficiently, and achieve high performance across the region
  • Coach, mentor, support, and elevate teammates in assigned markets to foster a high performing cohesive group
  • Effectively build relationships and lead communication and collaboration where needed with key team members across multiple regions and lines of business
  • Support and reinforce the overall operational goals and key measures of the organization across assigned regions
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure that we have the necessary infrastructure, tools, and products in place for success.

 

People Management

  • Recruit, develop, and retain team members to ensures support, productivity, and engagement
  • Engage in talent management activities such as goal setting, performance evaluations, stay interviews, development planning, and ongoing feedback to develop team members and achieve organization goals
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and corrective action (when necessary) to team members
  • Foster a culture that reflects Shorelight’s values

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, international relations, or related area
  • 10+ years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry or a similarly structured industry
  • 7+ years of direct line management experience
  • Strong sales and account management skills
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in a matrix governance model
  • Strategic-minded and sales-driven, with strong drive for results
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while remaining pressure-resilient
  • Proficient with technology and reporting programs/systems
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Essential Functions

  • I-20 and Visa Preparation
    • Collaborate closely with admissions, agents and recruitment for all confirmed students to ensure efficient completion of required documents to achieve I-20s for students
    • Provide a comprehensive visa preparation service to students and agents including regular presentations to agencies, sharing of tips and best practices, and mock interviews with students to achieve a 95%+ visa issuance rate
    • Track and analyze visa appointments, embassy processing times and student interview feedback to continuously enhance and adapt visa preparation according to current trends and insights

 

  • Pre-Departure Process and Activity Management
    • Design, manage and facilitate an engaging and informative pre-departure concierge service for students, parents and agencies
    • Participate with the planning and implementation of pre-departure events (online and offline)
    • Ensure student’s financial obligations are met by facilitating payments of tuition and other associated fees before departure
    • Ensure agents/students and their families complete and submit pre-arrival forms and documentation to campuses, with a focus on the transportation form so campus teams can effectively manage the arrival process
    • Work with recruitment, students and agencies to ensure clarity on-time arrival of students to campus for orientation
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all sub-regional agents and students in the pre-arrival phase

 

  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Provide key partner’s VIP service, including customized reports, regular update of student progress, and in agent office visits
    • Analyze data in order to provide ongoing weekly updates, reports and forecasts to the ES Manager and Regional team for all students
    • Be the point of information and clarity on all conversion activities and student status
    • Maintain a database of respective sub-regional students to track their status and progression to enrollment

 

  • Stakeholder / Student Family Engagement and Management
    • Manage and maintain regional agent/student online enquiry platforms
    • Build a strong rapport with students, parents, channel partners, partner campus teams, admissions and any other key stakeholders
    • Maintain a database of assigned students to track their status and progress toward arrival
    • Act as key contact for the campus student services teams post arrival to help communicate with channel partners/parents to assist with any follow-on activities post enrollment (i.e. student attendance, performance etc.) 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience living, working, or studying overseas preferred
  • Proficient in writing and speaking English and Mandarin
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Essential Functions

Admissions Data Management & Integrity

  • Receive applications and documents from students/agents
  • Review applications, transcripts, and other documents required for international student admissions and evaluate academic and English credentials to determine admissibility to University programs; render decisions on student’s admissibility
  • Advise agents/students/internal team members on admissions requirements; provide support to enable completion of application
  • Input and maintain data into Shorelight’s and Partner University’s CRM/EM systems
  • Review daily reports to manage workflow and ensure processing of applications and offers are meeting required deadlines
  • Collect and verify I-20/financial documents; liaise with University PDSO to issue I-20
  • Prepare acceptance packet
  • Develop and run data reports for routine reporting to relevant stakeholders

Administrative Support

  • Support the Academic and Student Services Directors by assisting with pre-arrival processes and documentation, including partner and student inquiries
  • Review and coordinate mail and documentation on a daily basis
  • Respond to e-mail and phone inquiries
  • Assist with webinars for future students
  • Process requests for information packets and prepare mailings to prospective students
  • Participate in staff meetings

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, international education, or related field
  • 2+ years Admissions experience, including working knowledge of university admissions processes
  • Knowledge of international student services within a higher education setting
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate and accomplish work goals 
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects in a timely manner

Shorelight Education is seeking to hire Associate Product Sales Manager/ Regional to execute a student recruitment strategy across Regional targeted at international students seeking a US university degree.  The Associate Product Sales Manager/Regional position, reporting directly to the Deputy Regional Director, China, will work across all regional channels to maximize the recruitment efforts in the China for a specific set of Shorelight partner universities. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for regional recruitment target completion for the assigned programs, including monthly game, intake goal and annual NB target achievement. 
  • Contribute to, and execute on, Shorelight university partner’s broader student recruitment strategies
  • Develop and execute a product specific recruitment plan in conjunction with Shorelight regional recruitment and campus teams
  • Maintain maximum levels of competitor awareness, products knowledge, and market intelligence in the region, ensuring the regional team members to be well-informed with the assigned program(s) KSPs as well as the market trends, cooperate with the National Product Manager (s) to well deliver and train the regional team.
  • Work closely with DRD/ DRMs of Regional Recruitment to target on the growing cities/regions for the major channels’ numbers activation and maximation, be able to monitor and give analysis in region performance and recruitment trend, as well as recruitment effort ROI tracking, finding risk areas and provide solutions.
  • Work closely with National product team, to deliver counsellor training to Shorelight partners in the region as needed
  • Accountable for providing first hand feedback to National product team on market conditions, recruitment activities, marketing campaigns and suggestions for further product optimization
  • Work closely with Business Development team to seize the new channels expansion opportunity for the assigned program (s).
  • Maintain a data-driven approach to the recruitment, monitoring overall enrollment trends, and reporting on all phases of recruitment process, by leveraging systems and technology.
  • Execute efficient and streamlined processes for all stages of recruitment process with a strong focus on improving all levels of conversion %, from the top funnel applications building up until the final enrollments. 
  • Travel extensively to attend recruitment and outreach activities, seminars, conferences, meetings, and training events to build strong and lasting relationships with current and prospective students, families, channel agents, school partners, and other external institutions and vendors.
  • Act as strong contributor to the region to design and execute regional focused products/ regions/ channels strategies
  • Team communication – proactive, transparent and efficient communication across team members, to avoid repetitive and overlapped effort, and mis-understandings.

 

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry

Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Executive Education, is responsible for achieving enrollment targets for Shorelight Live Executive Education programs. This role encompasses a number of core responsibilities, including conversion of leads generated by various demand-generation campaigns, direct and targeted outreach to prospects acquired through referral campaigns, presentations at events that promote executive education programs, direct engagement with the HR or training departments of large employers (with sizeable internal training budgets). 

This position is based in a Tier 1 city in China, and directly reports to Shorelight’s Vice President – International Development, based in Boston, USA.

Essential Functions

Lead Conversion  

  • Work closely with local marketing teams to convert leads generated by various online marketing campaigns, as well as leads resulting from in-person activities at expos or events
  • Work with prospective students from early stage (‘leads’) to successful enrollment in their desired executive program
  • Grow revenue through the development of profitable channels such as agent and institutional relationships in line with the agreed sales and marketing strategy
  • Utilizing Salesforce CRM system, establish, monitor, and report on goals, milestones, and KPIs that enable Shorelight to track toward its program bookings goals
  • Work closely with other Shorelight functions to ensure a smooth student transition to enrollment, including various handoff points to Admissions, Enrollment Services, Account Managers of channel partners and local universities, Boston HQ, and other Shorelight University partners

B2B Relationships 

  • Leverage existing networks of contacts relevant to identifying and enrolling executives into high-end professional programs
  • Use online, telephone and face-to-face communications, to identify and sell into prospective executive associations and networks, and to nurture good relationships with potential students
  • Promote single and multi-participant training packages for executives employed by leading technology employers (as well as other firms with an internal focus on AI training for executives)

Business Development 

  • Engage with the most senior executive levels (Director, General Manager, Vice-President, C-suite) of prospective clients
  • Working closely with the Marketing team, plan and implement relevant sales and marketing campaigns throughout the market via on-line and off-line events, including agent engagement events, corporate events, training, organization-partnership events, and social and digital media campaigns

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business, HR or similar
  • 8+ years of sales and marketing experience with HR Learning and Development divisions or within the education industry

  • Execute Shorelight’s university partners’ student recruitment strategies, partnering with the Recruitment Manager as well as Shorelight’s Global Marketing Team for all marketing and advertising strategies and collateral
  • Help manage key channel accounts and partnerships to achieve enrollment targets for all university partnerships
  • Maintain a data-driven approach to recruitment, monitoring enrollment trends, and reporting on all phases of recruitment process to the Recruitment Manager, using technology systems
  • Maintain maximum levels of competitor awareness, product knowledge, and market intelligence
  • Travel extensively to attend recruitment and outreach activities, seminars, conferences, meetings, and training events to build strong and lasting relationships with current and prospective students, families, faculty, staff, agents, partners, and other external institutions and vendors
  • Execute efficient and streamlined processes for all stages of the recruitment process (inquiry, application, assessment, offer, acceptance, visa applications, orientation, etc.) with a strong focus on conversion of inquiries to applications
  • Work effectively with the university liaisons to ensure smooth entry into the school or program (working with finance offices on incoming deposits, tracking of payments, processing of agent contracts and commissions, as necessary; assisting incoming students with form completion; coordinating arrival transportation for new, incoming students; etc.)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in marketing, communications, business, international relations, or related area
  • Proficient in English, Native in Chinese
  • 3+ years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry in West & South China
  • Strong sales and account management skills
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in a matrix governance model
  • Proficient with technology and reporting programs/systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills and ability to foster a customer service ethic within the work team
  • Willingness to travel
  • Eligibility to work in the hiring location without sponsorship

  • Strategic-minded and sales-driven, with strong drive for results, and pressure-resilient
  • Existing network and relationships within the education industry in West & South China; strong working knowledge of key international markets, programs, and products; and US higher education are all pluses

Job Overview

The Enrollment Services Advisor leads and executes our pre-arrival conversion activities in the China region.  Based in Beijing, the Enrollment Services Arrival works as part of a highly motivated professional team and is responsible for regional visa success and overall conversion and arrival of new students on campus.

 

This position works closely with recruiters, admission and marketing/D2C teams, and Shorelight’s partner campus teams to provide student-focused, optimal learning experiences and services that lead to student conversion.  Measures of success for this role include the ability to drive conversion from deposit to enrollment, high rate of pre-payment, high rate of visa issuance, and on-time arrival to campuses. A large proportion of this sales and service role is speaking with applicants, parents and agents via online chat platform, email, telephone daily. The position directly reports to the Enrollment Services Manager, China.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities of this position include:

 

  • I-20 and Visa Preparation
    • Collaborate closely with admissions, agents and recruitment for all confirmed students to ensure efficient completion of required documents to achieve I-20s for students
    • Provide a comprehensive visa preparation service to students and agents including regular presentations to agencies, sharing of tips and best practices, and mock interviews with students to achieve a 95%+ visa issuance rate
    • Track and analyze visa appointments, embassy processing times and student interview feedback to continuously enhance and adapt visa preparation according to current trends and insights

 

  • Pre-Departure Process and Activity Management
    • Design, manage and facilitate an engaging and informative pre-departure concierge service for students, parents and agencies
    • Participate with the planning and implementation of pre-departure events (online and offline)
    • Ensure student’s financial obligations are met by facilitating payments of tuition and other associated fees before departure
    • Ensure agents/students and their families complete and submit pre-arrival forms and documentation to campuses, with a focus on the transportation form so campus teams can effectively manage the arrival process
    • Work with recruitment, students and agencies to ensure clarity on-time arrival of students to campus for orientation
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all sub-regional agents and students in the pre-arrival phase

 

  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Provide key partner’s VIP service, including customized reports, regular update of student progress, and in agent office visits
    • Analyze data in order to provide ongoing weekly updates, reports and forecasts to the ES Manager and Regional team for all students
    • Be the point of information and clarity on all conversion activities and student status
    • Maintain a database of respective sub-regional students to track their status and progression to enrollment

 

  • Stakeholder / Student Family Engagement and Management
    • Manage and maintain regional agent/student online inquiry platforms
    • Build a strong rapport with students, parents, channel partners, partner campus teams, admissions and any other key stakeholders
    • Maintain a database of assigned students to track their status and progress toward arrival
    • Act as key contact for the campus student services teams post arrival to help communicate with channel partners/parents to assist with any follow-on activities post enrollment (i.e. student attendance, performance etc.)  

 

Minimum Experience/Skills

  • Experience living, working, or studying overseas preferred
  • Proficient in writing and speaking English and Mandarin
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively by meeting quality standards
  • Must possess effective time management skills, sense of urgency and ability to plan and prioritize daily activities
  • Must possess consultative skills and demonstrate ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess ability to receive constructive feedback and demonstrate accountability
  • Must possess critical thinking, problem solving skills and good judgment
  • Working knowledge of CRM software, eg Salesforce, preferred
