Job Overview

Shorelight is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development and Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts in China from strategy through execution for our growing short term program portfolio. As a pivotal member of the Marketplace leadership team, he/she/they will drive revenue growth for Shorelight’s short term programs including summer programs.  The Business Development and Short Term Program Sales Manager will be responsible for unlocking new sales channels and driving growth of Shorelight’s short term program enrollment.  He/She/They will be responsible for the regional growth strategy, focusing on new channel development, and recovery/expansion of B2B sub-agent network in the region. The role also supports program optimization and development, to drive enrollment goals. The role will be assigned a portfolio of short term programs and expected revenue target, and the work will require significant cooperation with Regional Recruitment, Product and Marketing teams. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Shorelight Marketplace.

 

The Business Development and Sales Manager is strategic-minded and sales-driven with a strong drive for results.  He/She/They has exemplary customer service skills along with the ability to foster a team-based customer service ethic and has a proven track record of working collaboratively in a matrix governance model.  The Business Development and Sales Manager has exceptional oral and written communication skills, professional presentation skills, and demonstrated success in launching new products in international market.  He/She/They has a strong sense of urgency, is comfortable multitasking, changing priorities to fit business needs, and manages time efficiently.

 

Essential Functions

 

Business Development and Relationship Management

  • Contribute to the design of the regional business development growth strategy, and lead on its execution and successful delivery to unlock new sales channels focused on short term and summer programs.
  • Ongoing relationship management and maintenance of new partnerships post-contract.

 

Program Sales

  • Attend and deliver training sessions, information sessions and other similar events to drive and support channel partner performance to drive sales.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Product teams to ensure channel partners are given the materials, knowledge and skills needed to reach desired levels of performance.
  • Build relationships with both active and inactive sub-agents with the aim of raising portfolio-wide levels of performance and provide accurate and timely performance forecasts and introduce tactics to address challenges and any barriers to achievement of revenue target.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed assigned revenue targets and contribute to overall business growth.

Market Research and Analysis

  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings relevant to short term program offerings in the US.
  • Participate in regular product trainings with key partners.
  • Gather insights from channel partners to continuously improve our products and services.
  • Contribute to product pricing analysis and strategy

Security

  • Comply with Shorelight Written Information Security Policy, and all other Shorelight Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Take responsibility for any Shorelight assets assigned to you.
  • Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to Shorelight Security.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, international relations or a related area
  • 35 years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry
  • Strong sales and account management skills
  • Strategic-minded and sales-driven, with strong drive for results
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while remaining pressure-resilient
  • Strong working knowledge of key international markets, programs, and products would be a plus
  • Language requirements: Chinese and English (fluent) are a must
  • Ability to work in the hiring location without sponsorship, and willingness to travel regularly

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Proficiency with CRM technology and reporting programs/systems
  • Experience in a start up environment or growing a new business line

Essential Functions

Admissions Data Management & Integrity

  • Receive applications and documents from students/agents
  • Review applications, transcripts, and other documents required for international student admissions and evaluate academic and English credentials to determine admissibility to University programs; render decisions on student’s admissibility
  • Advise agents/students/internal team members on admissions requirements; provide support to enable completion of application
  • Input and maintain data into Shorelight’s and Partner University’s CRM/EM systems
  • Review daily reports to manage workflow and ensure processing of applications and offers are meeting required deadlines
  • Collect and verify I-20/financial documents; liaise with University PDSO to issue I-20
  • Prepare acceptance packet
  • Develop and run data reports for routine reporting to relevant stakeholders

Administrative Support

  • Support the Academic and Student Services Directors by assisting with pre-arrival processes and documentation, including partner and student inquiries
  • Review and coordinate mail and documentation on a daily basis
  • Respond to e-mail and phone inquiries
  • Assist with webinars for future students
  • Process requests for information packets and prepare mailings to prospective students
  • Participate in staff meetings

 

Security

  • Comply with Shorelight Written Information Security Policy, and all other Shorelight Information Security Policies and Procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, international education, or related field
  • 2+ years Admissions experience, including working knowledge of university admissions processes
  • Knowledge of international student services within a higher education setting
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate and accomplish work goals 
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to think independently, thoroughly, and critically in fast-paced contexts

The Senior Integrated Marketing Specialist role reports to Senior Channel Marketing Manager, Greater China and supports a team of China Marketing team responsible for executing local marketing strategies in the region targeted at national online and offline channels.

Key Responsibilities

Core qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in marketing, business, EducationTechnology, or related area
  • Proficient in English, Native in Chinese
  • 3 years’ tactical marketing experience preferably within international education industry
  • Good skills and knowledge on social media area, a digital experience is plus
  • Good contents development skills, especially for social media, EDM, and online ads

Shorelight is seeking a proven entrepreneurial and strategic international leader for the position of General Manager, China. The General Manager’s (“GM”) role is to grow, expand, and scale our business in assigned markets. The GM provides leadership, consultation, and expertise and line-manages Shorelight’s regional recruitment team in region and leads high-level account development and management of key channel partners. Essential Functions

Regional Strategy & Operations

  • Lead local leadership to develop multisector approach that leverages regional resources
  • Provide leadership, consultation, and expertise on special projects within the organization and ensure that assigned regions are positioned properly around all business, operational, and student acquisition strategies

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all local accounting activities in China, under the direction of finance corporate leadership, helps lead the finance team in accurate reporting of financials for our operations in China. He/she/they is fiscally responsible and looks for opportunities to improve operational practice to align with financial goals. The Senior Accountant is a strategic thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail and a proven customer service approach to working with others. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and will manage an Accounts Payable Specialist

 

Essential Functions

Accounting

  • Prepare journal entries and associated balance sheet reconciliations for the monthly financial close, including those for cash, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll, payables, intercompany/consolidation, and all required accruals as examples
  • Manage the local payroll and accounts payable operations to ensure the Company’s vendor and employee payment obligations are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Collaborate with PWC to calculate, file and record quarterly VAT and Corporate income tax

 

Strategy and Data Management

  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting for senior leadership
  • Assist management with monthly and quarterly financial reviews by documenting analysis explaining unusual adjustments and differences to budget

 

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with local staff and the team in Boston to drive continuous improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly financial close process.
  • Assist with corporate audit readiness
  • Lead local statutory audit in China in collaboration with local accounting firm.
  • Work with Finance, Analytics, and IT team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of month-end processes and assist in initiatives to implement the improvements for financial reporting
  • Review, recommend, and implement best practices regarding accounting policies and procedures
  • Promote professional development of the accounting staff and help to build a culture characterized by teamwork, accountability, and a customer service mentality 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in accounting & finance, at least 5 years of previous experience, and a minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a large, multi-national public accounting firm
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to drive them through to completion
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintain a data-driven approach to recruitment, monitoring enrollment trends, and reporting on all phases of recruitment process to the Recruitment Manager, using technology systems
  • Maintain maximum levels of competitor awareness, product knowledge, and market intelligence
  • Travel extensively to attend recruitment and outreach activities, seminars, conferences, meetings, and training events to build strong and lasting relationships with current and prospective students, families, faculty, staff, agents, partners, and other external institutions and vendors
  • Execute efficient and streamlined processes for all stages of the recruitment process (inquiry, application, assessment, offer, acceptance, visa applications, orientation, etc.) with a strong focus on conversion of inquiries to applications
  • Work effectively with the university liaisons to ensure smooth entry into the school or program (working with finance offices on incoming deposits, tracking of payments, processing of agent contracts and commissions, as necessary; assisting incoming students with form completion; coordinating arrival transportation for new, incoming students; etc.)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in marketing, communications, business, international relations, or related area
  • Proficient in English, Native in Chinese
  • 3+ years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry in Central China
  • Strong sales and account management skills
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in a matrix governance model
  • Proficient with technology and reporting programs/systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills and ability to foster a customer service ethic within the work team
  • Willingness to travel
  • Eligibility to work in the hiring location without sponsorship

Job Overview

The Business Development Manager for Central China will be responsible for execution of an important element of the regional growth strategy, focusing on the regional new channels development, and recovery/expansion of B2B sub-agent network in the region. The role also supports to explore local market demand and drive the existing program optimization and localization, to build network and partnership with local high schools and universities partnership,  driving new business opportunities. The role will be assigned a portfolio of B2B sub-channels and new channel partners to manage and develop towards achievement of an expected revenue target, and the work will require significant cooperation with Regional Recruitment, Product and national Marketing teams to reach the desired level of short term and long-term, consistent channel partner productivity.

 

This position is based in Shanghai and reports directly to the Assosicate Director of Business Development for China.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of the regional business development growth strategy, and lead on its execution and successful delivery 
  • Lead the initial approach to new channel/partner, then following an agreed engagement process, in collaboration with regional recruitment team, pitch and negotiate through to contract and a sales goal.
  • Ongoing relationship management and maintaining of the new partnerships post-contract.
  • Build relationships with both active and inactive sub-agents within the assigned account portfolio with the aim of raising portfolio-wide levels of performance and provide accurate and timely performance forecasts and introduce tactics to address challenges and any barriers to achievement of target.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Product teams to ensure channel partners are given the materials, knowledge and skills needed to reach desired levels of performance
  • Share best practice and take a collegiate approach to working with other members of the business development team in other regions in China, such as providing thoughts and feedback on enrolment trends, industry insights, competitor activity and market environment
  • Devise a researched, measurable method of managing the Shorelight product mix across a range of channel partner profiles and business models, also be able to grasp regional trend and market demand, to contribute the exisiting product optimation and lolication and seize the new business opportunities.
  • Attend and deliver training sessions, information sessions and other similar events to drive and support channel partner performance (will require travel across the assigned region, which will vary based on the season and period within the recruitment cycle)

 

Qualifications, knowledge and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, international relations or a related area
  • 35 years of experience in the international education/recruitment industry
  • Strong sales and account management skills
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in a matrix governance model
  • Strategic-minded and sales-driven, with strong drive for results
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while remaining pressure-resilient
  • Proficient with technology and reporting programs/systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills and ability to foster a customer service ethic within the work team
  • Existing network and relationships within the education industry in China, particularly in Tier 1-3 cities in the Central, would be a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of key international markets, programs, and products would be a plus
  • Language requirements: Chinese and English (fluent) are a must.
  • Ability to work in the hiring location (Shanghai) without sponsorship, and willingness to travel regularly.
