Job Overview

The Staff Accountant contributes to accounting activities for Corporate accounting, under the direction of finance corporate leadership, helps lead the finance team in accurate reporting of financials. Essential Functions

Accounting

  • Prepare journal entries and associated balance sheet reconciliations for the monthly financial close, including those for cash, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll, payables, intercompany/consolidation, and all required accruals as examples
  • Provide support and oversight as it relates to team members supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Collaborate with Finance team on all financial aspects of assigned partnerships, including maintaining KPI’s on corporate expenditures and target operational metrics

Strategy and Data Management

  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting for senior leadership
  • Assist management with monthly and quarterly financial reviews by documenting analysis explaining unusual adjustments and differences to budget

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Assist with corporate audit readiness
  • Work with Finance, Analytics, and IT team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of month end processes and assist in initiatives to implement the improvements for financial reporting
  • Supporting ongoing projects to improve NetSuite design and reporting capabilities
  • Support new rollout of Coupa software for expense procurement/payables/treasury and employee expenditure activity
  • Review, recommend, and implement best practices regarding accounting policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in accounting
  • Proven expertise using Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel
  • Budget, month end, and accrual experience
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional organization and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the company
  • Customer service focused, with demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and timely

Job Overview 

The Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for managing business planning and evaluating investment opportunities.  The Financial Planning Analyst supports the FP&A team in being strategic advisors to our leadership team, university partners, and global recruitment network.  This role will have the unique ability to participate and influence all aspects of the business, so the ability to build strong relationships and influence business partners is essential.  The Financial Planning Analyst reports to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).

Essential Functions

  • Monitor financial performance across product & loss (P&L), balance sheet, and cash flow statements and highlight trends across key performance indicators

  • Provide analytical support to department and university leaders for ongoing initiatives and ad hoc requests
  • Work closely with department and university leaders to validate that the return on investments (ROI) of initiatives are in line with strategic expectations
  • Lead annual budget and monthly forecasting process for designated business areas
  • Partner with FP&A team members to assist in building efficient and repeatable processes to improve automation of standardized reporting, including use of business intelligence (BI) tools
  • Support Senior Manager, FP&A and corporate finance team in creating presentation materials for our board meetings and quarterly business reviews

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • 2+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting with increasingly challenging roles
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including strong experience with financial modeling and advanced functions and formulas

The Account Manager position contributes to oversight of accounting activities for all Campus accounting, under the direction of finance corporate leadership, and helps lead the campus team in accurate reporting of financials, and key operating initiatives, as well as special projects. The Accounting Manager is a strategic thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail and a proven customer service approach to working with others. This role reports to the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer.  Shorelight has approximately twenty campus relationships overall, that can very significantly in campus size. 

Essential Functions

Accounting

  • Manage a team of approximately six direct reports, at the senior to staff accountant level
  • Work with Campus leaders to manage financial performance against budgeted expectations
  • Train new Senior and Staff Accountants on month end processes and reconciliations
  • Assist management with monthly and quarterly financial reviews
  • Collaborate with campus staff on all financial aspects of assigned partnerships, including maintaining KPI’s on student enrollment, budget to actual review, operational expenses, and student invoicing.
  • Work on special campus related projects.
  • Identify process gaps and key areas to improve financial performance
  • Review journal entries and associated balance sheet reconciliations for the monthly financial close, associated with campus operations, revenue/receivables and all required accruals as examples.

  • Assist with corporate audit readiness, with a Big 4 auditor.
  • Work with Finance, Analytics, and IT team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of month-end processes and assist in initiatives to implement the improvements for financial reporting

  • Document, review, recommend, and implement best practices regarding accounting policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Experience managing a team of at least four employees
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting management role, with preference to Corporate accounting or a divisional manager
  • At least five years of accounting experience overall
  • Proven expertise using Microsoft Office products, primarily excel and PowerPoint
  • Budget, month end, and operational initiative experience
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional organization and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • The ability to lead Finance presentations
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and manage multiple priorities

The Payroll Manager leads the payroll function by processing payroll, coordinating with Human Resources on all changes impacting payroll, and is the primary contact with the payroll service provider. The Payroll Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and oversees the Payroll Specialist role.

Essential Functions

Payroll

  • Assist with and oversee the biweekly payroll processing of domestic, multi-state payroll
  • Review and import hours from the time and attendance module
  • Coordinate with regional offices to process funding for monthly international payrolls
  • Support payroll reconciliation to general ledger
  • Ensure all regulatory payroll related filings are performed as required by the company’s payroll service provider
  • Lead annual process for developing, reviewing, and sending W-2’s to employees in accordance with federal deadlines
  • Comply with and enhance internal control policies and best practices associated with payroll transactions/disbursements, including SOX/404 internal controls readiness

 

Benefits

  • Review and approve invoices from benefit service providers and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist in 401k audit readiness and 401k contribution tie-out
  • Support monthly financial operations metrics initiative by submitting metrics timely within area of responsibility

 Reporting and Data Integrity

  • Perform biweekly payroll analytic analysis and summary of changes
  • Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and Human Resources requirements
  • Assist in maintaining data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data and reviewing source documents for accuracy and completion of data input


People Management

  • Attract, develop, and retain team members to ensure productivity and engagement
  • Engage in talent management activities such as goal setting, performance evaluations, development planning, and ongoing feedback to develop team members and achieve organization goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience processing payroll and assisting with associated general ledger accounting activities in NetSuite
  • Experience with payroll practices and multistate compliance, as well as a general understanding of associated payroll benefits
  • Knowledge of payroll, time, and attendance, HRIS and self-service systems for a large-scale payroll provider (e.g. – ADP, Workday, Ceridian, Paylocity, UltiPro and Paychex)

Job Overview

The Accounting Intern will be involved in key accounting cycles and will gain understanding of the transactions to be able to assist in general ledger and transaction support, including but not limited to order to cash, revenue recognition, expense amortization processes, and monthly close/process improvement support. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. Potential Functions

The Payroll Specialist assists the Payroll Supervisor in processing payroll and will partner with the accounting team to ensure accurate recording of all general ledger accounting activities related to payroll. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting.  He/she/they partners with Human Resources to ensure best practices are utilized and data accuracy is maintained.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Payroll Supervisor in processing US payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees, including importing hours from time and attendance system within the payroll system (Paylocity)
  • Support the accounting team in recording all payroll transactions in the company’s general ledger accounting system (Netsuite)
  • Ability to calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Work with international payroll providers to process monthly international payrolls
  • Assist the Payroll Supervisor in Year W2 Preparation
  • Support Employees with Self Service (Address Changes, Direct Deposit Changes, Password Resets)
  • Produce scheduled and ad hoc reports pertaining to payroll and general ledger activities for review by management
  • Reconcile Benefit Data from payroll records to benefit provider statements on a monthly basis
  • Support the accounting team in preparing journal entries for benefit service provider invoices and report any discrepancies to Human Resources
  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity in the system by running queries, analyzing data, and reviewing source documents for accuracy and completion of data input
  • Work directly with Payroll Supervisor to implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and partner with human resources on any initiatives to improve payroll and HRIS processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2+ years of experience processing payroll and supporting all associated general ledger accounting activities
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including payroll, benefits, and time/attendance
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Adaptability and flexibility, with demonstrated positive, problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong organization skills and ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline
