Essential Functions

Commissions & Bonus

  • Review and analyze bonus and commission plans; calculate bonus and commission liabilities
  • Work with Commissions Analyst to partner with teams to gather all student enrollment information across all partner universities
  • Assist in the production and distribution of commission and bonus statements
  • Maintain and analyze system data that is critical for commission functions
  • Proactively identify areas of concern in commissioning process and recommend improvements
  • Process commission and bonus payments and record entries in the accounting system
  • Assist in automation initiatives for commission and bonus processing
  • Reconcile commission payment to revenue recognition schedule

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. degree
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • 1-2 years of experience in an analytical or a financeoriented role, preferably commissions related
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Customer service focused; strong problemsolving and analytical skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and drive them through completion

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Netsuite and Salesforce.com

Job Overview

The Accounting Intern will be involved in a couple of key accounting cycles and will gain understanding of the transactions to be able to assist with documentation of the Company’s internal control processes, including but not limited to order to cash, revenue recognition and expense amortization processes. Essential Functions

  • Assist with daily partnership university cash account reconciliation and student refunds

Job Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a leadership role within the global Finance team headquartered in Boston.  Reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting in Boston and the VP of China in Shanghai, the Senior Accountant is responsible for all local accounting operations in China.  The Senior Accountant will manage an Accounts Payable Specialist and lead the transition from the current outsourced accounting service model to a fully functioning in house accounting team

 

Essential Functions

Financial operations

  • Collaborate with local staff and the team in Boston to drive continuous improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly financial close process.
  • Manage the local payroll and accounts payable operations to ensure the Company’s vendor and employee payment obligations are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Complete implementation of the Concur platform for the reimbursement of employee expenses
  • Work with the Corporate Controller to develop a robust internal control environment and ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements. 
  • Promote the professional development of the accounting staff and help to build a culture characterized by teamwork, accountability, and a customer service mentality 

 

Financial reporting

  • Partner with the Corporate Controller and the financial planning and analysis team to support all financial reporting tasks including monthly budget to actual analyses. 
  • Assist in special projects and successful completion of the annual audit. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in accounting & finance, at least 5 years of previous experience, and a minimum of 2 years of people management experience.

Essential Functions

Employees expense

  • Conduct compliance reviews of expense reports submitted by employees and ensure that qualified supporting documents are received and properly filed. 
  • Help all employees to understand and follow expense reimbursement policies. 
  • Ensure that payments are processed on a timely and accurate basis and posted properly in the general ledger accounting system. 
  • Work closely with the Global Financial team in Boston and ensure that all local finance practices are aligned with global best practices and policies. 
  • Prepare required reports concerning employee expenses to ensure proper practices are being followed and expenditures are aligned with budgets.
  • Handle VAT fapiao verification and bookkeeping
  • Provide assistance with the annual audit and all interim reviews
  • Perform other ad-hoc assignments as needed

 

Vendor management

  • Process vendor expense transactions on a timely and accurate basis, including proper account setup, vendor invoice entry, and generation of periodic payment request runs for management approval
  • Reconcile vendor accounts to ensure compliance with company policies and vendor contract terms. Propose adjustments as needed for management approval
  • Manage all vendor agreements and ensure all agreements are handled in line with company policies

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting 
  • 1-2 years accounting related work experience in a global organization
  • Familiarity with various accounting systems
  • Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

The Director of Technical Accounting will provide technical accounting support to the business and corporate accounting, document key accounting positions, serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert with respect to the company’s accounting policies, SEC filings and emerging accounting issues from the FASB and /or SEC. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

 Essential Functions

  • Oversee company-wide technical accounting consultation via research on and analysis of complex accounting issues, applying relevant technical guidance and interpretation.
  • Full documentation and communication, including recommendation, of accounting treatment to finance personnel across the company.
  • Build and manage strong business partnerships with key business development, legal and finance teams in development of partnership contracts to ensure positive financial terms and that revenue is recognized in accordance with corporate policies and GAAP.
  • Lead and document the implementation of improvements to accounting processes and policies
  • Continuously monitor, document and communicate the development of new accounting standards, interpretations, and emerging guidance to the finance organization, including current and future impact on the company.
  • Specific areas of interest are revenue recognition, contract management and financial implications, business combination, equity, goodwill and other intangible assets and strategic partnerships.
  • Work proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters to ensure proper accounting and disclosures along with documentation of accounting memos
  • Oversee, implement and maintain the company’s accounting policies and monitor compliance; work with the CFO and finance leadership to lead policy initiatives and adoption of accounting guidance.
  • Assist in the financial policy transition and accounting of any newly acquired businesses.
  • Provide training on new or existing accounting standards to company employees.
  • Assist with oversight of Sarbanes Oxley process.
  • Assist with oversight of the monthly close process and related improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee income tax process including coordination with third party tax preparers for filing returns and recording the tax provision within the financial statements.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with Big 4 CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience applying GAAP accounting and SEC requirements, including minimum of 4 years auditing experience within a large, multi-national public accounting firm (e.g. Big 4); experience in both private and publicly held international companies preferred.
  • Knowledge of Corporate HQ consolidation of international entities
  • Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the United States without sponsorship

  • Review the company’s commissions and agent bonus payout statements and record the associated expense amortization entries
  • Manage monthly revenue, AR, deferred revenue, and commissions close process; record journal entries and complete associated account reconciliations
  • Review monthly AR aging file with staff accountants and campus teams; collaborate with the team to achieve continuous improvement in the AR collection process
  • Assist with audit tasks related to revenue, AR, and commissions
  • Train and mentor junior team members on technical accounting skills

Strategy and Data Management

  • Perform custom revenue reporting and margin analysis at the student and partner levels
  • Track and record new revenue streams produced by the company’s dynamic business model
