Job Overview

The Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting oversees various aspects of corporate accounting including, but not limited to commissions and bonus accounting, fixed and prepaid assets, and vendor accruals. He/she/they demonstrates fiscal responsibility by looking for opportunities to improve operational practice to align with financial goals within several software platforms.

 

The Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting is a strategic thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail and a proven customer service approach to working with others. He/She/They focuses on developing and reporting key financial operational metrics, has outstanding oral and written communication skills that allows for effective communication at all levels in the company, and the ability to lead finance presentations. The Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting is comfortable multitasking, changing priorities to fit business needs, and manages time efficiently. He/She/They is a team player who can work independently. This role reports to the Corporate Controller.

 

Essential Functions Corporate Accounting

  • Partner with the Sales and Commissions team to properly account for commissions and bonuses
  • Review monthly journal entries and reconciliations for areas including, but not limited to, fixed assets, intangible assets, prepaid expenses, term loan, accrued payroll/benefits, and vendor accruals
  • Support the Company’s adoption and future adherence to ASC842 Lease Accounting
  • Review monthly international subsidiary financial packages
  • Support international treasury with monthly international cash forecasting and banking covenants
  • Compare actual results to budgeted expectations with the FP&A Team and provide additional reconciliation support where needed
  • Leverage FloQast to drive enhancements in the monthly close process

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Support corporate audit efforts
  • Work with Finance, Analytics, and IT team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of month-end processes and assist in initiatives to implement the improvements for financial reporting
  • Document, review, recommend improvements, and implement best practices around internal control processes, systems, and procedures around all essential job functions

Interim Support

  • Review and approve domestic payroll and global contractor payments
  • Manage international finance service providers for the international subsidiaries
  • Oversee international accounting, including monthly reporting and treasury
  • Facilitate statutory audits, review international accounts payable, and verify international payroll

People Management

  • Recruit, develop, and retain team members to ensure productivity and engagement
  • Engage in talent management activities such as goal setting, performance evaluations, stay interviews, development planning, and ongoing feedback to develop team members and achieve organization goals
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and corrective action (when necessary) to team members
  • Foster a culture that reflects Shorelight’s values

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate accounting and/or public accounting, including 2-3 years managing in a Corporate Accounting environment
  • Proven expertise using Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel
  • Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with accounting software such as NetSuite, Salesforce, FloQast, SmartSheet, and Coupa
  • CPA
  • Prior experience working with a publicly traded company
  • Experience with companies audited by a Big 4 firm or other national accounting firms
  • Experience partnering with FP&A in budget to actual reviews
