Assistant College Lecturer / Assistant Professor of Practice in Computer Science

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cleveland State University (CSU) invites applications for two non-tenure track Assistant College Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice positions in Computer Science, to begin in January 3, 2022.
 
Responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, student advising, and curriculum development for both lecture and lab courses. The nominal teaching load is 24 credit hours (6-8 courses) per academic year, excluding load reduction in relation to additional tasks related to program review, industry relation, and committee work, etc. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Opportunities for summer teaching with additional compensation may also be available. After the first year, the position will be annually renewable for five additional years based on performance, programmatic needs, and university finance.  After a successful sixth-year review, and upon approval by the Provost and the Dean of the College, the position may be eligible for two successive three-year reappointments, followed by another six-year reappointment.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science or a closely related field, or Ph.D. in Computer Science (for the Assistant College Lecturer position).
2) Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science or a closely related field, and a minimum of ten years of professional experience (for the Assistant Professor of Practice position).
3) Demonstrated ability to teach and interact with both undergraduate and graduate students.
4) Good communication skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Earned doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
2) More than two years of teaching experience.
3) Relevant industrial experience beneficial to CS curriculum development and CS capstone project advising.
4) The ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
