Job Overview
This goal of this position is to weave data-driven decision-making into the fabric of Shorelight’s everyday work. A key management role within our analytics team, you will be accountable for business intelligence reporting and data visualization products within the company. This role should have strong hands-on skills and experience as well as the ability to establish strong business relationships. Reporting to the Executive Director, Analytics, you will help drive the long-term data strategy and road map in partnership with other Analytics leadership.
Essential Functions
- Works closely with business partners across Shorelight, participating in requirements gathering sessions together to find the best possible BI solution or analytics product to a given business need
- Owns the entire lifecycle of an analytics product – ideation, design, development, testing, deployment, and support
- Delivers work that generates insights, using creativity and pragmatism, getting to the “so what?”
- Makes recommendations grounded in data and guided by a broader understanding of the business
- Participates in the development of company benchmarks of key metrics and performance indicators
- Manages, guides, and mentors a team of analysts capable of meeting personal, departmental, and company goals
- Manages daily operations of analyst team to ensure successful project delivery; ensures fair allocation of workload and resources, aligning projects with priority to the business
- Works closely with data architecture team to prioritize data warehouse needs
- Contributes to data strategy for reporting, dashboards, and self-service analytics
- Structures and presents analyses to executives and other key stakeholders
- Leverages innovative tools and approaches, identifying new methodologies to conduct analyses
- Drives continuous improvement in data analytics and business intelligence capabilities, spreading that knowledge and expertise throughout the organization
- Maintains knowledge of industry best practices
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience in an analytics or business intelligence role; relevant experience bringing a data-driven approach to strategic decision making
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency with programming / database querying tools (R, Python, SQL, etc )
- Strong experience, technical capabilities in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Data Studio, PowerBI)
- Must have prior management experience overseeing and directing teams of analysts
- Confident and clear presenter who is at ease with diverse audiences
- Positive team player
- Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and love for learning new skills
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and business collaboration skills
- Strong project management, organization, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Exposure or experience working in agile methodology
