Job Overview

Shorelight is seeking a dynamic individual to manage the tactical execution of company communications. The Communications Manager reports to the Vice President of Communications and is responsible for driving Shorelight’s communication strategy, including developing and managing key messages, announcements and thought leadership for both external and internal audiences.

Key Responsibilities

 

Project Management

  • Develop and drive Shorelight’s Corporate Communications strategy, including determining and managing key messages, announcements and thought leadership
  • Own all PR activities, including but not limited to press release creation, byline and content development, executive thought leadership, media relations, and social media strategy
  • Creating and communicating Shorelight’s purpose and story to all external stakeholders
  • Support the training and advising of Shorelight’s leadership for media interviews, presentations and speaking engagements

Relationship Management

  • Manage and develop relationships with external PR agency/consultants
  • Build relationships with journalists and key influencers, manage media inquiries and identify communications opportunities
  • Liaise with Shorelight Executive team for major opportunities and announcements, working with Marketing to ensure alignment on marketing materials
  • Act as a brand steward, upholding brand and trademark standards and consistency in all projects; ensure department compliance with established standard policies and procedures 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in journalism or communications
  • Bachelor’s degree, liberal arts, journalism, or communications
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Social Media and social media content marketing understanding
  • Results driven, proactive, and able to work autonomously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work on a small, nimble team, managing at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Flexible with the ability to embrace change in a rapidly evolving work and market environment
  • Basic financial literacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in communications
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural professional environment
  • Experience working with executives and/or C-suite
