Job Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a central role in linking Shorelight’s global human resources and regional business strategies with the goal of supporting our expanding operations across India. The India HRBP liaises between India and global Human Resources to assess needs and deliver services such as employee recruitment, performance management, compensation, compliance, employee benefits, and payroll and talent management. In collaboration with HR leadership, the HRBP partners with business leaders to implement HR strategies that foster organizational efficiency and talent development for the region.

The successful candidate possesses excellent communication skills, an ability to quickly adapt to changing demands, and the agility to function in a fast-paced, often fluid and innovative environment. 

This position is located in Gurugram and reports to the Human Resources Director in Boston with a dotted line to the Director of Corporate Operations, also in Boston.

Essential Functions

Business Partnership

  • Develop in-depth understanding of the region to translate strategic and tactical business plans into talent-oriented plans
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and implement HR and recruitment strategies to support business initiatives and deliver results
  • Provide support in areas that impact the attraction, development, and retention of talent
  • Develop and foster relationships at all levels within the country; serve as a trusted advisor to all regional staff
  • Collaborate with larger HR team to align practices across global organization
  • Serve as change agent and champion in support of HR and business-related initiatives
  • Partner with local leadership on organizational design, skills assessment, workforce, and succession planning

Talent Management

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for India, in partnership with Talent Acquisition
  • Develop talent acquisition strategies that align with short- and long-term workforce plans
  • Use a variety of channels and methods to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the country’s recruiting process
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding process for the region, including drafting employment documents, coordinating new-hire training schedules, handling all visa requirements, and closing out all employment-related matters for departing employees
  • Partner with managers to ensure employees are positioned for success (e.g., through performance planning, goal setting, development plans, evaluations, and offboarding)

 

Employee Relations

  • Work with managers and employees to coach, facilitate problem solving, and develop employee relations practices that contribute to and enhance workplace culture, fostering a positive environment
  • In conjunction with HQ-HR, provide counsel and ensure prompt resolution of all legal-related matters, ensuring that appropriate parties are consulted throughout the process
  • Provide support for all talent-related activities in the region, including in-country support when needed
  • Develop tools to build leadership capabilities to address and resolve employee relations issues
  • Collect and analyze internal and external data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience
  • Collaborate with local partners across the region to align and improve global HR policies and practices, ensuring compliance with local laws

Other Duties

  • Manage relationship with logistics provider in New Delhi
  • Act as the main point of contact for all compliance-related matters
  • Manage employee programs, including performance management, professional development, employee benefits, and compensation
  • Prepare monthly payroll for the region in conjunction with the Finance department in HQ
  • Perform other ad hoc HR duties and projects as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ combined experience in recruitment and business partnership
  • Working knowledge of core HR functional areas, including compensation, talent acquisition, performance management, and compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in communicating changes within the organization and coaching team members and managers to help them navigate change
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and applicant tracking systems
  • Open minded, resilient, good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to travel throughout India and internationally as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing payroll and managing employee benefits plans
