Job Overview:

The Teaching Facilitator is responsible for the day-to-day delivery & teacher-focused support for Shorelight Live Lectures. She or he will actively monitor, by checking in regularly on, lectures to which they are assigned to provide Live Lecture technical support (hardware and software). The Teaching Facilitator will also respond to faculty help requests by joining the live videoconference and interacting directly with faculty during class sessions. Duties also include updating academic information and materials to ensure they are accurate at the time of broadcast. The Teaching Facilitator is a crucial member of the Shorelight Live team; thus, her or his performance will affect the teaching & learning experience and the integrity of our organization. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Live Studio Development and works closely with other key stakeholders including faculty, Shorelight LIVE operations and technology teams. Teaching Facilitator must display excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and an innovative approach to problem solving. Early morning, late evening, and weekend hours may be required.

Essential Functions

Technology Support

  • Log-in and launch in advance of live lecture Zoom sessions to ensure proper configuration of equipment and software
  • Monitor lectures as assigned
  • Respond to faculty requests for help
  • Troubleshoot audio/visual technical issues
  • Troubleshoot browser-based software and learning management system issues that affect delivery of live lecture

Relationship Management

  • Build confidence in faculty about Shorelight’s technology and support
  • Represent Shorelight’s student-centric and academic values to faculty and other university personnel
  • Build and manage relationships with faculty and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Shorelight Live staff, partners, contractors, and vendors

 

Experience Design

  • Help facilitate a learning experience for faculty and students that is positive and professional.
  • Help facilitate a technology experience for faculty with a goal of 100% teaching time for class sessions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Zoom technology
  • Experience with higher education instruction
  • Fluency with Chrome browser functions
  • Familiarity with the principles and basic technologies of Internet-based videoconferencing
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal-communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work from home using own Interned broadband, laptop or computer, headset, and camera that meet Shorelight specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS and demonstrable relevant work experience or internship
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot Windows and Chrome browser environments
  • Knowledge of higher education instruction
  • Demonstrated teaching, presenting, public speaking, or frontline customer service experience
  • Familiarity with the principles and basic technologies of live video broadcasting
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
