Job Overview

The Part-time Camera Technician films day-to-day scenes and lectures from our studio at UMass Amherst. This individual operates and maintains our cameras and other equipment. She or he collaborates with UMass Amherst Global staff, partners, contractors, and vendors to ensure full functionality. The Camera Technician is a crucial member of the UMass Amherst Global team. Her or his performance directly impacts the students’ and instructors’ experience and the integrity of the UMass Amherst Global organization. This would be for 20 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works effectively with studio operator and instructors to determine all aspects of filming, footage, and angles
  • Collaborates by providing practical input to scene planning
  • Films lectures and other scenes according to requirements
  • Performs other duties as needed
  • Starts daily camera operations in a multi-studio setting
  • Communicates effectively with other staff members located in different locations and in other countries

Qualifications

  • Ability to control cameras with a high degree of operational and technical knowledge
  • Understanding of the electronic and mechanical processes cameras use to film.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work very early mornings, evenings, and/or weekend shifts
