Nurses interact directly with patients in hospitals, schools, and community settings to provide care and treatment. This pre-professional, non-degree program is a first-step toward becoming a nurse. The 34 course hours will prepare students for nursing school. They’re also great practice for the HESI Admission Assessment Exam, which most schools require as a prerequisite to nursing school. Academic advisors work with students every step of the way to get them on the path to a career as a nurse.

A B.S. in Biomedical Sciences – Preprofessional Concentration at UCF covers all preprofessional tracks for medical fields, including pre-nursing, pre-med, pre-dental, and pre-pharmacy. Students are provided with fantastic preparation for graduate education in the life sciences or professional degree programs. Students will take courses in the biomedical sciences, including cell biology, physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, and neurobiology. The Pre-Nursing track in The College of Nursing is for those who are not registered nurses. The demanding but rewarding curriculum includes clinical practice in a variety of settings. Prior to applying to the basic nursing program, it is strongly recommended that students be at least one year post high school.
